Venus Kimono Sewalong

I’m so excited to invite you to join me for the Venus Kimono Sewalong starting this Wednesday, September 6th!

The Venus Kimono  is a gorgeous pattern that you will find so easy to sew you will be whipping up more than one in no time. The pleats at the shoulder and curved hem give it a really modern look. It hangs over the body beautifully and is perfect as a cover up. Ideal in Spring or Autumn when the days get a little cooler and you just want something to cover up but look super stylish at the same time. A great pattern for a beginner sewer or advanced!

Each day I will take you through step by step from the types of fabric to buy to finishing your very own Venus Kimono with a beautiful rolled hem.  You don’t have to be an expert sewer to sew this pattern and I will show you how to assemble a pdf pattern, how to sew a french seam and a rolled hem.

There are two versions of the Venus Kimono. The relaxed fit Venus Kimono which is one size fits all or the oversize Venus Kimono  which is designed to fit generously over the body but is also a great option for plus sizes above size 18.  If you haven’t already got the Venus Kimono pattern you can purchase and download it from the shop and print it off before we get started.

Before you begin make sure you have your pattern  and read through the pattern instructions. You can find all your fabric & supplies required in your pattern instructions and I will be running through them on Day 1 to give you a better understanding of suitable fabrics.

Day 1, Wednesday 6th September: Gathering Fabric & Supplies

Day 2, Friday 8th September: Assembling your PDF Pattern

Day 3, Monday 11th September: Grainline, Toile, Cutting and transferring markings

Day 4, Wednesday 13th September: French seams, and pleats.

Day 5, Friday 15th September: Rolled hems, sleeves, neck and hemline.
