Oh I love this pattern! Just finishing off my second. I think this time I’ll do bias binding made from the same fabric to go all the way round the long continuous edge, rather than make a narrow hem. The sloping hemline means the kimono never gets in my way, neither do the sleeves which are a perfect length for comfort. The French seams ensure it looks as tidy on the inside as the outside.
The Venus Kimono doesn’t slip off my shoulders, in fact I hardly notice I’m wearing it. I’ve made both mine in very lightweight cotton I picked up at my local market, such a delight to wear. Lovely to slip on as the summer evening air cools here in the UK.
I’ll be making more of these for sure! Now I know the pattern works so well for me I can explore working with other fabrics. It’s a lovely fast make. This project is so simple a complete beginner making it could be so proud of their first project and feel a genuine satisfaction with the end product.
