Fashion Revolution Week is a campaign in April run by the Fashion Revolution movement which falls on the anniversary of the Rana Plaza factory collapse in Bangladesh, which killed 1138 people and injured many more on 24th April 2013. During this week, brands are asked the question #whomademyclothes and are encouraged to respond with the hashtag #imadeyourclothes to demonstrate greater transparency, sustainability and ethics in their supply chain.
The Fashion Revolution movement want people from all around the world to take part to inspire and change the way we think about our fashion purchases so that our clothing is made in a safe, green, clean and fair way.
One of the ways to take part was to upload a #haulternative which shows that you don’t need to buy new clothes to enjoy a haul. Instead of the traditional fashion haul, where you go shopping and post a video of what you’ve bought you try a #haulternative; an alternative way of updating and refreshing your wardrobe without buying new clothes and adding to the wasteful fast fashion industry.
There are a few different options for posting your video which include, fashion fix, diy and swapping. I decided to show a diy video on how you can easily sew my FREE Annie A-line skirt pattern in less time than it would take you to go to the shops and very affordable as the pattern is FREE!.
