Velo Culottes Pattern Launch

I have combined my love of cycling and fashion in a new pattern the Velo Culottes.

I’ve always loved culottes and when I noticed they were trending I couldn’t wait to draft up a pattern. Culottes were first created to provide women with a piece of clothing that allowed more freedom to do activities such as horseriding and cycling but still looked like a skirt, retaining their femininity. Totally fits in with my lifestyle!

I made two lengths, Version A are knee-length trousers, and Version B which sits mid thigh for a gorgeous pair of culotte shorts. They feature a nice size waist band to accentuate your waist and pockets are a must! Easy back zipper closure and pleats at the front make for a beautiful fit.

The culottes have an inverted pleat at the centre front which will hang beautifully in a light weight wool or silk crepe, rayon, polyester or light weight satin. When you go to choose your fabric, make sure you choose a fabric with a nice drape. You can test the drape by unrolling some fabric from the bolt and hang over something.  It’s a great pattern for an advanced beginner or intermediate sewer. I have made a few pairs and each time they have turned out beautifully.

If you make a pair, make sure you tag them #veloculottes and #sewthispattern so I can see all of your wonderful versions.
