Join us for a two-evening sewing class to create your very own Luna Jacket by Papercut Patterns. This stylish, boxy cropped jacket has 3/4 sleeves, drop shoulders and patch pockets. The Luna Jacket is a wardrobe winner that pairs with almost everything.

Leanne’s expert guidance will help you navigate pattern reading and garment construction with confidence.

For beginners with some sewing experience who want to build confidence in pattern reading and garment construction.

Description

Fabric Recommendations:

You will be sewing the unlined versions so a medium-weight cotton or linen are ideal choices—please avoid rayon or slinky fabrics, as they can be challenging for beginners. Remember to pre-wash your fabric before class, or at minimum, steam iron it to remove wrinkles.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to read and interpret pattern instructions
  • Understanding seam allowances, fabric layouts, and pattern terminology
  • Taking accurate body measurements and understanding ease
  • Cutting your fabric with proper layout techniques
  • Constructing the Luna Jacket step-by-step
  • Making adjustments for a perfect fit

What to bring.

  • Fabric 2.2meters of Medium weight cottons, linens, chambray or lightweight denim.
  • Thread to match
  • Sewing kit if you have one

Provided.

  • A copy of The Luna Jacket pattern by Papercut patterns (valued at $38)
  • Sewing machines
  • Cutting tables
  • Irons
  • Pins , scissors, measuring tapes, rulers, pencils are all avaialbe to use but if you’d prefer to bring your own sewing kit plase do so.

Class Structure:

Week 1:

  • Introductions and fabric discussion.
  • Review pattern instructions, glossary and terminology.
  • Measurement techniques.
  • Cutting pattern and fabric.
  • Beginning sewing if time allows.

Week 2:

  • Continuing assembly following instructions.
  • Troubleshooting and adjustments.
  • Finishing your Luna Jacket and styling tips.
